i have this entry in my draft box, which is long and full of pictures, and i somehow havent gotten around to posting it although i can remember all that happened with nostalgia. it is something that is unlikely to happen again in the near future, perhaps even ever. its one of those instances where i feel compelled to walk away for a variety of reasons that seem very very decisive.

there is some unbelievable mileage (for my standards). i managed 8k in less than an hour on thursday morning before work. about 8k (in less than an hour) after work on friday. then dinner and picking up somebody. then another 6k (easy). then gorged on water. then slept after laundry.

i woke up feeling good, but i missed my bike ride this morning (late!).

orange cake (vegan)

this was supposed to be a chocolate orange cake. however i have already had two permutations of chocolate cake recently and felt a bit tired of chocolate cake, so i omitted the cocoa powder and replaced with some flour. i added more orange zest than initially called for, and added some concentrated ginger extract for some zip. the cake seemed heavy but rose well. i might add some finely chopped ginger if i make it the next time.
